The enthusiasm and commitment we draw upon when delivering training solutions is mirrored in our philanthropic activities. |
We encourage and enable our employees to either directly or indirectly use their skills and knowledge to help charitable organizations whilst simultaneously strengthening themselves, our clients and Target as a whole. |
An example of a recent program is Know-How 4 Charity (KH4C). The idea is simple. On a quarterly basis, trainers work in teams to “donate” their very best training materials to Target’s document management system (known informally as Arthur). For each piece of know-how a trainer contributes, Target donates money to a charity of the trainer’s choice. These training materials are then uploaded onto Arthur for all trainers to use and the cream of the crop is selected, printed, bound and posted back to everybody within the organization. |
Since starting KH4C we’ve seen 3 things happen, and one of them was a pleasant surprise. |
Firstly, the trainers are motivating each other to build and share materials – everybody wants to raise as much for charity as possible and nobody wants to let their team down. |
Secondly, trainers are using Arthur to retrieve the documents, becoming more comfortable with how our document management system works. This then encourages them to use Arthur on an even more regular basis to support their day-to-day work, and maximize client training time. |
Thirdly, and unexpectedly, a touch of competitiveness has crept in. Trainers and trainer teams are striving to build even better training materials and share them across the organization. |
All of the above benefit Target, our trainers, our clients and the charities our trainers choose to support. |
Since KH4C was introduced at the beginning of 2008, money has been raised for the following charities: |
| Red Cross | Plan International |
| Doctors without Borders | Caritas |
| Biologische Krebsabwehr | Kidshelp Kambodscha e.v. |

"KH4C gives me an opportunity to do something for somebody else, and myself. Everybody should sit back once a month and look at what they've done well - and if I'm doing my job properly it’s no more work to share good training materials I've built with other colleagues. KH4C makes it easy to do this. |
