A recent study in the US found that 50% of managers surveyed considered many meetings to be a &#8222;waste of time.&#8220;, 90% said most meetings were a failure due to &#8222;lack of advanced planning and organization,&#8220;<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\"><\/a>and over 75% said that they received no formal training on how to conduct a meeting<a href=\"#_ftn3\" name=\"_ftnref3\"><\/a>. To make matters worse, American professionals attend an average of 61.8 meetings per month<a href=\"#_ftn4\" name=\"_ftnref4\"><\/a>, and research suggests that 50% of that time is wasted<a href=\"#_ftn5\" name=\"_ftnref5\"><\/a>. We can assume that the situation in Europe is similar. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Despite this general feeling of dissatisfaction, meetings are here to stay because they\u2019re still one of the most efficient ways to share information and solve problems at work. However, it\u2019s wrong to think that they\u2019re necessary in every situation, or that they cannot be improved.
