When you are presenting in English (or in any language) your introduction needs to answer three questions:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Why are you standing there presenting? What is the <span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>purpose<\/strong> <\/span>of your presentation?<\/li>\n<li>What are the steps in your presentation? What is the <span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">process<\/span> <\/strong><\/span>you will follow?<\/li>\n<li>Why should your audience listen to you?\u00a0 What is their <span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><strong>payoff<\/strong><\/span>?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t matter if you are introducing your team, presenting a process or giving an update on a project \u2013 the structure is the same. The 3Ps help you remember this structure, and if it helps you when you are nervous, why not use the three keywords?<\/p>\n<h2>Presenting in English &#8211; an example of the 3Ps in action<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cGood afternoon and thank you for coming.\u00a0 <strong>The purpose of my presentation today<\/strong> is to update you on the factory acceptance test.\u00a0 <strong>The process I will<\/strong> <strong>follow<\/strong> is to first review the agreed schedule, then talk about the tools we are using and finally we will look at two problems we have found and how we will solve them. \u00a0This will take me 10 minutes.
