Target Training GmbH: new forum reply to Module 3 Homework

Mobile device – I think my reaction would depend on a few factors. a) who is paying for the training and how accommodating do we have to be! b) how many ppts are on the course, how disruptive will this be to the rest of the group. c) what is my training plan, am I using break out rooms etc that the mobile device would cause problems with. I would firstly anyway ask the ppt if it is possible to log on using a computer, if not I may either live with it or tell them it is not possible for them to attend the course depending on a – c above.

Late- again how late, how disruptive is this to the rest of the group, how much have they missed. Like with a face to face classroom training I would make a decision based on the questions above.

Call-in 3 I would ask the ppt to dial in again but remember to enter their attendee id so that their name appears otherwise I will have problems with breakout rooms later. If this is not possible due to time constraint I would make a note of who call-in 3 is so I know to keep them in the main room.

Audio, if I had a producer I would hand this problem over to them, if not talk the ppt through some possible solutions, are both headphone and microphone connected, use the test in the audio menu.

drop outs, I'm not sure what I can do here other that check with the remaining ppts that they are happy with the course so far?

no one starts i would give them a few moments to start and then ask if everyone had understood the activity (usually I check understanding before I say go), maybe then set a leader/coordinator for each group to try and stimulate activity, or simply ask why they had not started.

Ppt not joining in, I would direct a few questions directly to that ppt, if this didn't work when I had the chance I might send a private message via chat to check everything was alright, if I felt they were just on the course to cruise and did not want to play an active role I would just carry on without them focussing on the ppts who wanted to learn.

19 ppts, bring it on, use breakout rooms, mute mics when in main room, use annotations to get active participation from ppts. if possible keep a checklist of who answered questions so I can try and make sure everyone gets a chance to speak.

Module 3 Homework

As discussed, I'd like you to think about the 8 "What ifs…" below. You can post your answers here or bring them with you to the session next week.

What if…

1. A participant joins with a mobile device and cannot use annotation?
2. One or more participants are late?
3. Instead of a name you see 'Call-in User_3' in the participant list?
4. A participants has continual problems with their audio connection?
5. One or more participants drop out of the session?
6. Nobody starts an activity you just set?
7. A participant does not appear to be listening or joining in?
8. You have 19 participants in a session?

The User Guide you got last week might help with some of the technical answers. ;-)
